Michael granted a home Hot Tub Spa

May 2018 – We awarded a grant to 10 year old, Michael, who was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (Juvenile Ankylosing Spondilitis) at the age of 3. This condition causes Michael to experience inflammation and pain in his spine and joints, and causes reduced range of motion. His rheumatologist recommended warm aquatherapy for stretching, exercise and to increase circulation. Michael’s mom searched around for local aqua therapy at centers but was unsuccessful. He needed frequent warm water soaks and treatment to get relief for his aches and pains. AREF awarded a grant to Michael for a home hot tub spa. Best wishes, Michael!!
